Ryan Johnston serves as Associate Director of Platform Engineering & Security at DePaul University, providing leadership for enterprise infrastructure, cloud services, cybersecurity, and collaboration technologies. With more than 26 years of experience in higher education IT and prior leadership roles at Illinois State University, Ryan has guided organizations through significant technology transformations involving cloud adoption, digital workplace modernization, identity and security strategy, and enterprise network and platform operations. His current work focuses on AI governance and administration, cybersecurity risk management, and helping institutions leverage emerging technologies responsibly in support of teaching, learning, research, and administration.
